Manchester Friends’ Meeting House is a beautiful Georgian venue at the heart of the city’s civic quarter. We are proud to be an ethical business where visitors always experience a warm welcome.
Our Grade II listed building has a fascinating heritage and parts of the boundary wall date back to before the Peterloo Massacre of 1819. Inside you will find rooms of varying sizes, from a hall that seats over 300 people, to rooms that are suitable for one to one meetings. Every room has natural light and an excellent wifi signal.
Friends’ Meeting House is less than 5 minutes’ walk from a tram stop and is in easy reach of mainline rail stations. Despite our central location, we are known for our calm and peaceful atmosphere.
We are completely transparent about our prices (see our website for details). Customers can book on a room-only basis (half or full day) or can choose to add on the specific catering and/or equipment they need. For larger bookings we offer a Day Delegate Rate. We serve Fairtrade tea and coffee, and our cold buffets and cakes are supplied by local small businesses who really understand customers’ individual needs. We can supply a range of audio-visual equipment and we also have a longstanding partnership with a local AV specialist who can work with customers who require this service.
Our friendly staff have a wealth of experience with events large and small. They know the right questions to ask to guide you through the planning stages and they will work alongside you on the day to ensure everything goes well. They know how important your event is to you and your delegates.
Friends’ Meeting House is still a place of worship and the revenue we generate through our business goes to fund our charitable activities. We aim to provide a service that helps contribute to a sustainable future and to the well-being of others. We are committed to working in a way that supports the core values of our business:
Equality: respecting people, valuing diversity, treating everyone equally
Integrity: always working openly & honestly
Sustainability: striving to reduce our negative impact on the environment & encouraging clients to make more sustainable choices
Peace: working cooperatively & contributing to a culture of nonviolence
Our team also manages four other smaller venues in Eccles, Northenden, Sale & Warrington.
