The Meetings Show has taken place over the past two days at London’s ExCeL Centre, some two and half years since the last live event. Hospitality and Events North was delighted to be involved.
This event marks the second major conference for the industry this year (following Confex at the start of September) and shows that confidence is starting to build in the industry with over 250 UK and international event suppliers, more than 60 education sessions and countless 1:1 meetings; it’s certainly been a busy show!
Attendees have been looking to source new suppliers, discover the latest innovations and build an invaluable network through face-to-face interactions. For those unable to attend in person, flagship event offered participants the ultimate hybrid experience with many choosing to attend online rather than in person.
Ric Salmon, CEO of Driift, was the main speaker this year. A music industry veteran of almost 25 years, Ric spoke about setting up an online ticketed events company in the midst of a pandemic and working with the likes of Andrea Bocelli and Kylie Minogue in an exciting and engaging session.
From sustainability and virtual platforms to diversity and wellbeing, there was also plenty on offer from the event’s Education Programme aimed at beginners in the industry to experienced event profs.
Overall it was exciting to attend this event and network with fellow professionals, meet new people, and enjoy the positive atmosphere. Next year’s show has already been announced back in its normal spring slot.
The resurgence of major events demonstrates that the industry is looking to rebuild stronger than ever, roll on #CHSBirmingham!
